Hi FAU Bloggers, Let's talk language:) So, I speak English as a first language even though I'm technically Welsh (I was born in Wales). However, my Grandparents on my mother's side were Irish and on my Dad's side with a connection to the Campbell clan in Scotland. I don't speak Welsh, which is a Celtic language, and I tend to describe myself as a British "kiltro." As a child I went to a Catholic School. I had Latin lessons but learnt no Latin and French lessons and learnt no French. My next attempt at learning a foreign language was Spanish almost 15 years after leaving school. Finally, you need to leave a short comment on my blog. So, my name is Simon and I'm your English Teacher this semester. I'm British. I was born in Wales, but form the age of 6 I lived in England. My family on my mother's side is Irish so I'm a bit of a mix. I have 5 sisters and 3 brothers who all live in the UK except for my brother Adrian who lives in New Zealand. I've lived in Chile since 1998 but spent 2019 to 2022 in China.. I'm married to a Chilean and we have two cats - Goku & Aiko. My hobbies are playing football and making music. An Interesting Trip

I have been lucky enough to go on some amazing trips, many of them within other holidays. For example, whilst staying in Coyhaique a few years ago, my wife and I did a day trip to Aysen. Other trips I've done include Cappadocia in Turkey when visiting Istanbul or Abel Tasman National Park in New Zealand.while I was visiting my brother in Wellington. The trip I'm going to write about is a day I spent walking along the Great Wall in China. Covid restrictions meant that I didn't get to travel too often whilst in China. However, when my wife and I visited Beijing a trip to see the Great Wall was top of our list. I researched the different locations close to Beijing and we decided to do a 9-hour hike from Gubeikou to Jinshanling because it was a quieter, less modified section of the wall. We went with a Beijing-based, English-speaking, hiking group. I think the trip cost about 30,000 pesos. This included transport and a guide. We were travelling with 2 German friends and there w
